Assessment ModelsAssessment Models: Uncovering Core Competencies and Improvement Opportunities
In addition to Innovation 360’s assessment protocol, there are other models that organizations embarking on the journey of business transformation may choose to employ. Two of the most widely adopted are the EFQM Excellence model and the Malcolm Baldrige model, both frameworks for assessing an organization’s capability and performance.
EFQM assesses the organization’s activities based on five enabling criteria. It also analyzes the accomplishments the organization achieves using four results criteria. Together these criteria highlight the organization’s strengths and opportunities for improvement, both individually and as compared to other organizations.
The Malcolm Baldrige model assesses the organization based on 11 interrelated core values and concepts. Organizations are assessed on their current performance in several areas including leadership, strategy and process management. Like EFQM, the Baldrige model uncovers areas for improvement as well as highlighting the organization’s core competencies.
An overview of both assessment models, and their role in business transformation, is part of Workshop One, Visualizing and Developing a Strategy for Business Transformation, in the Leading Business Transformation program.
